Cheyenne's Explanatory Paragraph
One skill I learned in fifth grade is to be a better reader. At Kearney, you have to read better and faster than you do in fifth grade. Also, in middle school you have to read a lot! It is fun to read, so that's why I really focused on becoming a better reader this year in fifth grade. Now when I go to middle school I will be ready. Plus, it is good to read... it is an important skill to have for more than just going to school. I will use this skill the rest of my life and the better I am at it, the more successful I can be!
Bryan's Explanatory Paragraph
The skills that I learned in fifth grade that I will continue to use in middle school are finding the area and the angles of a rectangle and a triangle. Also finding the area of a rectangle is important because if the teacher gives me some problems I wouldn't be able to figure it out. Also, finding the angles of a triangle is important. In sixth grade, I wouldn't be able to finish the work that the sixth grade teacher gives me if I didn't have these skills. I would never finish it. This skill will help me in real world situations too. If I'm trying to find the area of a room, a yard, the playground or the school, knowing the formulas and how to use them will come in very handy.

Film Fest 2012
Who's excited for this year's Film Fest?! Everyone has worked so hard this year to create, edit and produce their films, and I, for one, am really looking forward to seeing each of your masterpieces. As a class, we've worked really hard on writing, learning and singing our bully song. I'm really proud of the work that each of you has put into this particular film. Special thanks to Lobo's mom, Regina, for her inspiration for the song :) Also, thanks to Mrs. Stork for her use of the iPad, Garage Band and general know-how about the movie-making process! I cannot wait to see the final product :)
I'd like for each of you to comment on the FilmFest process and how it went for you. Your writing homework this week was to discuss your idea for your film. After reflecting on the process of making your movie, what are you most proud of? What would you do differently if you could redo your film this year? Will you make another film in middle school or high school?
